About

I am a 33 year old Husband, Father, Son, Brother, Friend, Outlaw, Meathead and Soul Runner.

SOUL RUNNER.
After spending the first half of my athletic career playing both baseball and soccer at a highly competitively level, I decided to hang up the boots and glove and start life as a normal person. However, it didn’t take long before I was back in the gym training, only this time I had no idea what I was training for. I have been lifting since I was about 13 years old thanks to an old weight set and a meat-head of a dad who loved lifting heavy and always made sure I knew the importance of being strong. Soon after college I picked up distance running with two of my best buddies and you could say that the habit stuck. We soon found ourselves wanting to test out limits, not simply in breaking PRs, but seeing just how far our bodies and souls could go. That was the start of Soul Runner, a running lifestyle that has less to do with running, and more to do with living and experiencing life. I have finished countless races ranging from 1 mile all the way up to the Ultra Marathon distance, but my true joy for the sport comes from those runs where it is just me and the guys I started this journey with.

Yes, this blog will follow my training as I gear up for races (1 mile, 5K, 8K, 10K, half marathons, 25K, marathons, ultra marathons, Adventure Races, Summits, Rock Climbs),as well as playing around with my other hobby, strength sports (powerlifting, strongman, highland games, CrossFit). But, if you focus simply on the training, than you will miss the heart and soul of why I do what I do.

I love running far, lifting heavy, bbq, bourbon and watching Ohio State football with my son. But most importantly I love life and I love my family. Running allows me to connect on a deeper level with them, and that was the purpose of a couple guys starting an idea called Soul Runner.
